With a bright future ahead of him in the world of football, FC Barcelona prospect Ismael Ziani has made his choice to represent the colors of Morocco in the U-15 team for the first time.
The young Barcelona player made the announcement on his Instagram account, where he expressed his pride to represent Morocco by sharing the letter his club received from the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) regarding his selection with the U15 Atlas Lions.
La Masia’s young talent will be in Morocco from December 11 to take part in the Talent Development Scheme (TDS) tournament, which will be held between December 12–17. Morocco, Côte d’Ivoire, and South Africa will compete in a round-robin event.
The U15 national team will face their South African counterparts in two matches set to be played at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Maamora near Rabat.
According to a statement by the South African Football Association, their selection of players was discovered during the July 2023 National Schools Championships and the SAFA/FIFA Talent Development Scheme (TDS) Tournament. .
After two years of development, training, and observation, these youngsters will be ready to compete for COSAFA and CAF AFCON qualifications in 2025 as the next generation of the U-17 National Team, the statement added.
South African team’s head coach Vela Khumalo stated his team was “looking forward to this great experience and will ensure that all the players in the squad get a taste of playing at international level.”
“The tournament will be a great test, but more importantly, our players will learn from a young age what it means to play for the badge,” he stressed.
He went on to say that in addition to being a fantastic exam, the tournament will teach the players what it means to play for the badge at an early age.
