King Mohammed VI received on Thursday at the Royal Palace in Rabat several new ambassadors who are set to be appointed in several Moroccan diplomatic missions.
The King handed the nomination Dahirs to the ambassadors in question prior to them officially undertaking their missions in their respective countries.
The list of names includes Youssef Amrani as Ambassador to the US, Samira Sitail as Ambassador to France, and Abdelkader El Ansari as Ambassador to China.
In addition, Mohamed Ait Ouali will become Ambassador to Egypt, and Ahmed Tazi will become Ambassador to the UAE. The King also appointed Fouad Akhrif as Ambassador to Jordan.
Akhrif and Sitail performed their oaths at the reception, which was also attended by Morocco’s Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita.
Amrani replaces Princess Lalla Joumala as Morocco’s ambassador to the US, while Sitail’s appointment comes at a time marked by diplomatic tensions between the two countries.
The King made the appointments on October 19, with a statement from the royal palace saying the appointments were made after suggestions from Bourita and Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch.
