Local tourism sector warms up to Tour De Tuli

 

The Zimbabwean tourism sector has huge expectations from the Tour De Tuli international cycling event which will be hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe and Botswana starting this Tuesday.

Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) Head of Corporate Affairs, Godfrey Koti says Tour De Tuli presents an exciting opportunity to market destination Zimbabwe.

“We are looking forward to an exciting Tour De Tuli, which is a massive tourism event encompassing South Africa, Botswana and Zimbabwe. We are using this event as a marketing tool for destination Zimbabwe,” he said.

Local tourism and safari operators are equally confident that Tour De Tuli will be a major draw card to destination Zimbabwe.

“We are set to showcase hidden treasures which we have. You talk of great wildlife, huge cultural heritage and gorgeous landscapes,” said Vanessa Bristow, Beitbridge tourism operator.

Hundreds of cyclists are set to endure a strenuous biking route traversing through Greater Mapungugwe Transfrontier Conservation Area where they will also be treated to wonderful wildlife scenery.
