Morocco’s Police Chief Visits Austria to Strengthen Security Cooperation

Abdellatif Hammouchi, the Director General of Morocco’s National Security (DGSN) and Territorial Surveillance (DGST), met today in Vienna with the Director General of the State Protection and Intelligence Service of the Republic of Austria, Omar Haijawi-Pirchner.

The meeting coincided with Hammouchi’s participation in the 91st Session of the General Assembly of Interpol, which is being held in the Austrian capital from November 28 to December 1.

Hammouchi and his Austrian counterpart convened to discuss enhancing security cooperation between Vienna and Rabat.

The two officials also discussed strategies for promoting cooperative efforts to address various security risks and challenges.

The meeting was attended by leaders and representatives of the DGSN and DGST, as well as representatives of the General Directorate for State Protection and Intelligence of the Republic of Austria.

Hammouchi’s visit is part of Morocco’s commitment to consolidating international security cooperation.

The visit also demonstrates the North African country’s willingness to share its knowledge and experience in the fight against organized crime and terrorism with allies and all other security services around the world.

Earlier this month, Hammouchi attended the 49th Annual Conference of NAUSS in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, as a member of the newly formed Higher Council of the Naif Arab University for Security Sciences (NAUSS).

The Higher Council, which is NAUSS’s highest executive body, is in charge of defining the organization’s overarching policies as well as its primary administrative, scientific, and financial focus areas.
